Union second floor is drop-off point for donations going to Dallas shelter

Topic:
Donations to help Hurricane Harvey Survivors

The University Union and the Center for Leadership and Service have partnered to create a drop-off point for donations for Hurricane Harvey evacuees that are currently in shelters in Dallas.

They are collecting
new underwear and socks,
diapers, baby wipes, baby food,
toiletries,
feminine hygiene products, and
non-perishable food (especially canned pasta, peanut butter, snack foods) for Trusted World, the organization running the Dallas shelters.

They are also collecting cat litter, clean towels and blankets, treats, and pet toys for SPCA of Texas. Items will be collected through the end of this week.

NOTE: Donated items can be placed in the donation bins on the second floor of the Union across from Eagle Images and Wells Fargo.

The most direct benefit during disaster recovery is through monetary donations made to organizations that are on the ground, this ensures that people are able to get exactly what they need and purchases made in the area can help stimulate the economy following a disaster. There are many organizations that are accepting monetary donations to support recovery including Salvation Army, American Red Cross.

To make a $10 donation to the American Red Cross, text HARVEY to 90999.
