April Staff Senate Spotlight

Stacy Buchanan

Assistant Director, Toulouse Graduate School

How long have you worked at UNT?

I have worked here since 2003, when I graduated from UNT with my bachelor’s degree. I loved the campus and students so much, I just couldn’t leave!

What department do you work in and what does your position entail?

I currently work in the Toulouse Graduate School as an Assistant Director. My team oversees advising for the M.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies program, as well as general advising for prospective graduate students. I also coordinate graduation for doctoral and master’s students and help with commencement ceremonies!

What do you like about your position?

I love being able to help students in the final stages of their graduate degree.  These students have worked so hard for many years to achieve their educational dreams. I enjoy being able to make the final stages before graduation as easy and stress-free as possible! I also love being able to see them celebrate their achievement at commencement with family and friends.

What is your favorite place to eat on or near campus?

I am a Chick-fil-A junkie and could eat there every day!

If someone new came in and wanted to know something that no one else at UNT would know, what would you tell them?

I think most everyone who works at UNT knows this…but I always tell new employees that they won’t ever want to leave because UNT is such an amazing place to work!

Tell us something about you.

We have a full house of rescue animals: 5 dogs and 4 cats!  It can be a lot of work, but it’s so rewarding to save a life.
