April Staff Senate Spotlight

Monique Scales

Assitant Registrar, Office of the Registrar

How long have you worked at UNT?

I have worked at UNT for a total of 5 years in several different departments.

What department do you work in and what does your position entail?

I work in the Registrar’s Office as the Assistant Registrar for Scheduling and Curriculum Support. My job is to manage and direct the daily operations of classroom scheduling and editing/publishing both the graduate and undergraduate catalogs.

What do you like about your position?

I love how my job allows me to interact with several different departments and people on campus; student activities, academic advisors, chairs, deans, facilities, space management, the list goes on. There is never a dull moment.

What is your favorite place to eat on or near campus?

Oriental Garden.

If someone new came in and wanted to know something that no one else at UNT would know, what would you tell them?

I would tell them to visit Jason Peacock in the Undergraduate Admissions office. He is a freshman admissions counselor and knows a slew of information about UNT, UNT football and is quite a character.

Tell us something about you.

I am a proud graduate of the Mayborn School of Journalism (having received my master’s degree in 2015) and a certified travel junkie. I have visited 5 continents. My favorite places thus far include Cuba, Costa Rica, Spain & Australia.
