Amaya SpencerAmaya Spencer

Assistant to the CLASS Executive Dean and Office Manager

How long have you worked at UNT?

I have worked at UNT for 7 years.

What department do you work in and what does your position entail?

Seven years ago, I began my journey with UNT in the Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures & the Department of Spanish as an Administrative Coordinator and Office Manager. I was recently hired to be the assistant to the CLASS Executive Dean and Office Manager.

What do you like about your position?

I naturally have a servant heart, therefore I love the opportunity to help others succeed however I can. If I can help make things easier for you, or help in making your light shine just a little bit brighter, I’m all in. I also enjoy those whom I work with. It’s important to have a good, healthy, and positive working environment.

What is your favorite place to eat on or near campus?

I don’t really have a favorite place, and it’s rare that I eat out (I’m a picky eater), but when I do, I enjoy Chipotle, Avesta, or the variety of options that the Union has to offer when they’re fully functional. Is Mr. Chopsticks considered “around campus” – now that’s a favorite go-to!

Tell us something about you.

I’m a very hard worker and believe in giving my all in everything that I do. I’m one of the most positive and compassionate people you will ever meet. I love life, I love to laugh, I’m big on family -  I’m very serious, yet, know how to lighten the atmosphere. I am happily married, and although we do not have kids, we have a multitude of nieces and nephews.
