May Staff Senate Spotlight

Latrice Owens Moore

Student Services Coordinator for Leadership Programs, Center for Leadership and Service

How long have you worked at UNT?

I have worked at UNT for almost 3 years, since Fall of 2017.

What department do you work in and what does your position entail?

I work in the Division of Student Affairs, in the Center for Leadership and Service (CLS) as the Student Services Coordinator for Leadership Programs. In the CLS my colleagues and I strive to create learning through collaborative programming, in hopes that our students will engage and be active leaders in the community.  My position specifically entails creating leadership development experiences for students by way of large- and small-scale programs as well as instructing an academic elective course, UCRS 3600 Leadership for a Global Society.

What do you like about your position?

In my position, I have the ability to be creative and I receive encouragement from my supervisor to try new things. I get to inform students that it is okay to fail, as long as you learn from it.  Each day in the CLS is different from the last and the students make each of those days special.

What is your favorite place to eat on or near campus?

I enjoy grabbing a blueberry biscuit from Krispy Krunchy on mornings I do not have time to eat breakfast at home.

If someone new came in and wanted to know something that no one else at UNT would know, what would you tell them?

I would tell them that throughout the day in the Union, you can listen to an assortment of different songs being played by students on the 2nd floor piano.  It’s like being at a concert sometimes!

Tell us something about you.

TACO TUESDAY is my favorite day of the week!
