November 2019 Staff Senate Spotlight

Koby Osowski

GIS Applications Administrator, Facilities

How long have you worked at UNT?

I have been full time staff for 2 years, and I did an 18 month internship with UNT Facilities as well.

What department do you work in and what does your position entail?

I work in Facilities Information Services in the GIS group which is under FPDC (Facilites Planning, Design and Construction). My job title is GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Applications Administrator. My job involves maintaining very accurate spatial data of all assets on or under UNT, and providing maps of those assets to our customers to meet their business needs. We produce maps showing everything from building footprints, sidewalks and tree locations, to the miles of underground utility pipes that crisscross campus.

What do you like about your position?

There is always something new for me to learn and I get to interact with faculty, staff and students from all across campus. It is a dynamic working environment and I am never bored.

What is your favorite place to eat on or around campus?

I eat at Kitchen West, the new allergen free dining hall on a regular basis. I don't have any allergies, but I enjoy trying the new ways they have to prepare some traditional food items. Plus it is right around the corner from my office.

If someone new came in and wanted to know something about UNT, what would you tell them?

I hate keeping secrets, I am very good at it, but I don't like it.

Tell us something about you.

I think I have eaten tacos at just about every place in Denton that serves traditional Mexican street tacos.
