November Staff Senate Spotlight

Allison Peeler

Senior Communication Specialist, University Relations, Communications & Marketing

How long have you worked at UNT?

Almost 4 years.

What department do you work in and what does your position entail?

URCM, Senior Communication Specialist. As part of the recruitment marketing team, I oversee a variety of university-level recruitment campaigns. Our unit is responsible for campaign strategy, content creation and production of marketing deliverables (such as viewbooks) for university recruitment efforts. Our top goals are to recruit new students to UNT and to retain the students we have.

I have been a Staff Senator for URCM since 2018, and I was recently elected as the Parliamentarian. They didn’t give me a gavel, though.

What do you like about your position?

Creativity and strategic campaign development. We also laugh A LOT. It’s a pretty fun and light environment…I have purple hair, and no one cares. ;)

What is your favorite place to eat on or around campus?

The Taste (Korean restaurant on North Texas Blvd.). Get the Korean BBQ!!

If someone new came in and wanted to know something about UNT, what would you tell them?

I don’t know that I know anything about UNT that no one else would know…but I know I’m pretty proud to work here and to be an alum. Maybe I’d tell them how far the Union has come since I was a student here!

Tell us something about you.

I learned how to do a handstand when I was 32, and I love acroyoga. I have a basenji border collie pup named Sammy Davis Jr., and a fiancé named Ryan. The wedding is in May! They will both be in it, ha.

I’m also a Licensed Master Social Worker with a specialization in Community and Administrative Practice. I got into professional communications via the nonprofit sector. Before that, I was a mental health treatment provider.
