Every day you make valuable contributions to the university through your interactions with students and their families, campus visitors, university partners, and your colleagues. You give back to UNT in many meaningful ways. The UNT Staff Senate would like for you to consider sharing your time and talents through service in our organization. The UNT Staff Senate serves as a formal way for university staff to communicate with constituents regarding issues relevant to staff members. The Staff Senate seeks to advance the university’s mission and strategic plans, paying particular attention to issues and interests that impact UNT’s more than 2,300 staff members.

Mission of the Staff Senate:

The mission of the Staff Senate is to:
  • continue to foster communication within the campus community;
  • refer issues and inform the University administration on items that are of interest to the staff;
  • advance the University's mission;
  • improve the delivery of services to the University's constituencies

What does a Senator Do?
  • Attend Monthly Meetings--Not only is Senate Business discussed, but various speakers are also invited to present on current initiatives of interest to the Staff Senate.
  • Communicate with Constituents--One of the most important roles of a Staff Senator is to share what they have learned about the university with their colleagues and to seek feedback from their colleagues regarding the issues they want the Senate to address.
  • Serve on at least one Staff Senate Committee--Each Senator serves on a committee: Elections and BylawsPolicy and BenefitsCommunications and Public Relations, Staff Development.

How do I become a Senator?
The nomination process is simple and you can nominate yourself or colleagues. Simply submit a nomination using this survey.
 
Nominations will be accepted through April 17, 2019.
 
Please note that if you are nominating yourself, you are required to submit a completed Supervisor approval form with your nomination.
