Employee Assistance Program

Did you know that free counseling for help with family, legal or financial issues is just a call or click away for UNT staff? The Employee Assistance Program (EAP), powered by ComPsych GuidanceResources Online, can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Services are available at no cost to active and retired employees, as well as members of their households. This confidential service includes access to counselors, resources, legal assistance and much more. Many employees aren’t aware that this free resource is part of their UNT System Enterprise benefits package and can make a difference in their day to day lives.

Need to talk to someone about stress? Experiencing financial strain and want to seek advice? Want to learn more about how to achieve work-life balance? Access your EAP benefits for this type of help, and much more. EAP benefits are designed to help you manage your busy daily life and responsibilities, including major events, work stresses and issues impacting your quality of life as an individual and/or family. Attention Commuters to Discovery Park

If you rely on DCTA buses that run UNT routes to get you to Discovery Park or the main UNT campus, please be aware that there may be delays or changes to the routes this year.

The new Denton High School has opened and that will bring additional traffic for buses and commuters, and some slower traffic flow. If you take the bus at UNT, please make a plan to get to campus earlier than expected to ensure you arrive on time.

Please also keep these resources in mind:

  • Find the bus routes on the DCTA website.
  • Download the Transit app for your phone. This app shows you real-time data for where the buses are along your route. The only exception would be for buses that have to go off-route due to construction detours.
  • Sign up for Rider Alerts through DCTA to get immediate news about busing delays. This may be helpful if there are delays or stops missed due to construction or heavy traffic.
  • Follow UNT Transportation Services on Twitter or Facebook. The UNT department partners with DCTA, which provides the busing service to campus.

UNT’s Transportation Services department can be reached at 940-565-3020, transportation.services@unt.edu or transportation.unt.edu

Summer in Bloom

This summer we're spotlighting the floral beautification of campus maintained by the award-winning UNT Grounds Crew. This week we bring you the Sweet Potato Vine which can be found near the northeast side of the Life Science Complex Building, but can be identified all across campus, especially in the middle of Avenue C.

  • Fun Fact: It does not have any close relationship with potatoes. Sometimes the vine will bloom, blooms resemble petunias but are more fragrant.
  • Symbolism: Simplicity, peace and reconciliation
  • Difficulty Rating: Can handle heat, low maintenance, & great ground filler
  • Loves: Full to partial sun
