Commencement/Construction Notice

Due to construction near the UNT Coliseum, traffic during UNT commencement is expected to be heavy. If you are attending a commencement or know someone who is, please note that it is not recommended that guests arrive more than an hour prior to the commencement ceremony – otherwise they risk running into traffic departing from the previous ceremony. General commencement parking for guests is in Lot 20. ADA parking is in Lot 27. Faculty/staff who are participating in the ceremonies may park in the “A” Reserved Lot 4 behind Chilton Hall, even if they have an F/S permit. Those who are able to work off campus may want to consider doing so from May 13-15. If you are on campus, please try to avoid the traffic on the west side of campus/North Texas Boulevard area.

Employee Resource Groups

IDEA supports several Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to help members of the UNT community have a voice on matters of diversity and inclusion. Several ERGs will be holding meetings throughout the summer such as the White Accountability Group (WAG) and the Gender and Sexuality Group.

We would also like to extend a warm welcome to the newest ERG: the Asian Pacific Islander Middle Eastern North African (API-MENA) Professional Network! Learn more about their name as well as the full list of ERGs on the
website: https://idea.unt.edu/employee-resource-groups.

Reminder: DCTA Feedback

Those who use UNT buses, including student workers, are encouraged to give feedback from now through May 17 to the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA), which runs UNT’s bus routes. DCTA planners are evaluating the following areas: Connect and GoZone ridership demands, historical trends, and access; and fares. Please encourage all staff and student workers in your area who use UNT buses, Denton Connect buses or GoZone for transit to provide feedback at dctafeedback.net. Providing this feedback will help DCTA better understand how to serve our community. Also, survey participants will be entered into a drawing to win one of three $100 Amazon gift cards.

Bias Awareness and Perceptions - Open Enrollment

In this course learners will discuss their identities and how biases are institutionalized, internalized, and interpersonal. Through small and large group activities we will move from the identification of biases in your life and how they impact perceptions to how we are socialized to hold these biases in the first place. Finally, we will discuss how to use cultural humility as a tool to move us toward improving awareness of biases and intentional inclusion. May 10, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. via Bridge.
