LMAS Faculty Book Night
On March 15 at 7 p.m., the Latina/o and Mexican-American Studies faculty will present their recent publications and explore such works' potential and contributions to the scholarly world and beyond. These studies greatly expand and create new understandings in Latinx and Mexican-American studies. Please make plans to attend and witness this much-awaited presentation of our faculty's efforts. COVID-19 Testing
Discovery Park will have free COVID-19 testing available near the cafeteria entrance for the UNT community on March 18 and 24 from 3:30 – 5 p.m. Sign up via the blue Navica app on your phone. Contact UNT Student Health and Wellness Center for more info.
Nutrition Expert
You’ll find a familiar name in ERS’ March wellness programming for National Nutrition Month. Brian McFarlin, Associate Dean in the College of Education, is presenting a webinar as an expert in the field of nutrition to employees across the state: Listen to Your Gut! Building a Healthy Microbiome (aka Gut Health) and Immune System, on March 24 at 10 a.m.
Emerald Eagle Scholars Program
The Emerald Eagle Scholars Program is seeking nominations from staff and faculty for the EESP Member of the Year. The award is given to a student who is involved not only with the EESP office but also with extracurricular activities, honor societies and volunteer work. The nomination form closes on March 26.
Reality Education for Drivers
Do you have children in the 16 to 25 years old range? Medical City Denton is offering a free traffic safety injury prevention program on March 29 from 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. Community service hours are available for taking the training and some learners may be able to receive a discount on their car insurance (to be determined by your insurance company). Nominations are being accepted for the UNT Brand Ambassador of the Month Award, presented to faculty and staff who demonstrate four or more of the following UNT brand attributes: creative, imaginative, artistic, original, dedicated, persevering, industrious, resilient, supportive, friendly, compassionate and inclusive. The attributes embody our brand promise of being a caring and creative community that empowers our students to thrive in a rapidly changing world. It's always a good time to kick up your fitness, and Human Resources can help. Through Get Fit Texas and its new events calendar featuring live virtual workout sessions from barre to yoga to Zumba, picking up the pace doesn't get more convenient than this. All you have to do is register at the Get Fit Texas link above and get moving. Of course, don't forget about the excellent virtual workout sessions through the UNT Rec Center and available on the In the Green website.
