UNT Staff Jubilee

Hazards, Vulnerability, and Geography

Geography is more than maps and capitals. It's a diverse discipline that spans the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Want to know more? Join us this fall for the Geography Department's Crosscurrents Seminar Series, with a theme of "Hazards, Vulnerability, and Geography". The next seminar is Friday, 9/24/21 at 3 pm via Zoom, with a topic of "Post-Disaster Housing Recovery: Disparities and Trajectories". The seminar series is open to all members of the UNT community, including staff! Please send an email to geog@unt.edu for more information, including getting access to Zoom meeting links. Self-Defense Class

UNT Police is offering a FREE self-defense class scheduled for October 7th from 1:15-5:15 p.m. at Pohl Rec in group exercise A. This is a hands on class and work out attire is recommended. Fall 2021 Diversity & Inclusion Training

Diversity & Inclusion has scheduled both in-person and online training for individual employees to grow their diversity, equity, and inclusion knowledge. These open enrollment trainings facilitated by our experienced staff throughout September and October cover topics like Bias Awareness and Perceptions, Microaggressions and Inclusive Language, and Interrupting Microaggressions. The World Mental Health Day Conference on 10/8 is getting closer!

Save the Date for the 2nd Annual World Mental Health Day Conference on October 8th! Programs will be offered from 9:30a-3:30p with both in-person options on the Denton main campus and virtually throughout the day. 

Make sure to check-out Keynote Speaker, Dr. Sherry Benton, who will highlight the international dilemma presented by inadequate mental health resources. Visit website for more info.

Paint-it-Out

Don’t forget about the Staff Senate’s Paint-it-Out session, where staff members can decompress and express their creativity by creating a work of art on their lunch hour. Growth Mindset and Resilience 

With an eagle eye on building a growth mindset culture as part of our strategic plan, UNT HR Organizational Development & Engagement, in partnership with the Division of Planning, is offering a live, internally led, webinar for faculty and staff: “Cultivating a Growth Mindset” at 2:30 p.m. October 13. Participants will explore their own mindsets and how to reframe responses to failure in an effort to create resilience messaging that inspires success both for themselves and for our students!
