Grounds Team

The UNT Grounds Team take much pride in their work to keep the outdoor spaces looking beautiful. They understand how important a good impression makes to visiting guests on campus. We spotlight one of their team members, Kate Denton, Landscape Supervisor, who shares with us what she finds most rewarding about her job and sharing tips for those interested in gardening.

Severe Weather Seminar

Learn about severe weather in North Texas and how to best be prepared for when it happens. The Emergency Management staff in Risk Management Services will give you tips and answer your questions in an upcoming Severe Weather Seminar. 

The in-person seminar from 3-4:30 p.m. on March 31 in Coliseum Room 035 includes an exclusive tour of the Emergency Operations Center. Enter through the north tunnel and turn right until you get to the Emergency Operations Center, where weather and incidents are monitored. This presentation is for faculty and staff only. Signing Black in America

The Linguistics Department and SLANT will host a screening of the documentary, Signing Black in America, followed by a Q&A. Signing Black in America is the first documentary about Black ASL: the unique dialect of American Sign Language (ASL) that developed within historically segregated African American Deaf communities. The virtual screening is Friday, April 1 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the RTFP Building, room 184, as well as a virtual option which you can register here. https://ci.unt.edu/signing-black-america

Rec Center Survey

Take the Pohl Recreation Center survey to share your thoughts about the facility, whether you are a member or not. The center's master plan is being reviewed regarding possible renovations or expansion, and gathering input from students, faculty, staff and rec center members is a key part of the process. UNT Supervisor Networking Hour

In partnership with UNT Staff Senate, we ask supervisors to join us for a highly interactive informal session consisting of discussions, problem-solving, and networking led by the group and hosted by UNT HR Organizational Development Consultant, Amanda Fisher.
We will offer two opportunities (one virtual and one in-person). Come to either or to both! Please feel free to bring your sack lunch. 
Light refreshments will be available during the in-person session thanks to UNT Staff Senate!

Approaches to Implementing DEI in STEM Spaces

This workshop will introduce the concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as a value-added concept applicable to classrooms and other spaces. Attendees will learn how to apply DEI concepts in STEM spaces and be provided specific examples of how to approach implementation. We will have interactive activities surrounding culture in STEM environments, share our current practices, and self-reflect regarding our future commitments to using DEI. Completing the Final Disposition Log (FDL) Workshop

Institutional Records Management Program’s Effectively Completing the Final Disposition Log is offering an interactive workshop (via Zoom) for UNT, UNT Dallas and UNT System. The workshop provides hands on experience, best practices and tips and trick for finding records in the Records Retention Schedule and completing the Final Disposition Log.  The Introduction to Records Management and Retention training is a prerequisite to Effectively Completing the Final Disposition Log.
