Being cheeky could save a life: get swabbed for the National Marrow Donor Program

If you are between the ages of 18 to 44, please come to the Be The Match® marrow donor registry event Dec. 6, 2017, noon-4 p.m., outside of the University Union Ballroom. A simple cheek swab is used to add your tissue type to the registry.

Photo of students and wording that says the cure looks just like you!Thousands of patients with blood cancers like leukemia or other diseases like sickle cell anemia, need a marrow transplant to survive. Most patients don’t have a fully matched donor in their family — and that’s when they turn to Be The Match®.

By joining the Be The Match Registry®, your tissue type will be included in the search process for every patient in need. Keep your registration information up to date online until you're 61 so you can be contacted quickly if you are a possible match. Adding more members with diverse ethnic backgrounds to the registry increases the variety of tissue types available, helping more patients find the match they need.

You also are asked to share your decision to join the registry with family and friends now, so they'll support you later if you are called as a match. For more information, visit Be The Match® or join online at Join Be the Match.
